The Lisa Lowe Appeal walk - IOM Prison
We would like to send a big thank you to the Staff and prisoners that took part in the Lisa Lowe appeal walk on Monday 9th April.
It was a beautiful day to walk the length of the Island, following the Millennium way that has been explored by many since 1979.
Senior Officer Mike Pacey said "what a difference from a few weeks ago when I did the mountain section in minus eight!" the conditions were even brighter than the day before when the mist was descending over the mountain.
On the day 6 staff took part with 4 prisoners -Mike Pacey and Deputy Governor Bonnick walked the Crosby to Castletown route with 2 prisoners (aged 66 and 68 !) they recorded an impressive time of 2 hours 50 minutes ! .Andrew Morrison led the younger athletes, 4 staff and 2 prisoners who also picked up any litter en-route.They completed the walk in a leisurely 8.5 hours.
This is the third year in a row that the Staff have given up their time to walk this course and to supervise the prisoners who work very hard to get this opportunity to make a difference.
Special thanks must also go out to Staff- drivers – Ant Rogan and Armando Armillei, who transported the walkers and followed them en-route, picking up any rubbish that was found.
