Workshop 3 - Harmful addictive behaviour

Harmful addictive behaviour and the workplace – 2.5 hour workshop

Aim

To provide you with the knowledge, skills and toolkit you need to support your own struggles with addictions, helping co-workers with addictive behaviour and identifying early signs of addictive behaviour.

Course overview

This is a structured CPD approach and the methodology includes didactics, interactive work, self-assessment and group discussion.  Copies of the session content of each workshop will be made available as well as the psychometrics employed during training.

This workshop will be facilitated by Professor Robin Davidson, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist employed at The Lisa Lowe Centre as our clinical lead. The workshop will be structured in a CPD approach with the methodology including interactive work, self-assessment and group discussion. The workshop content will address the nature of dependency; it will be defined and clarified not only for substance misuse like drugs and alcohol but also behavioural addictions like gambling, micro-gaming, exercise and even mobile phone misuse. Distinction will be drawn between dependence and the harm associated with addictive behaviour in the workplace
